Christian Traditions ... Are They Good?

Prov. 14:12 "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."
Prov. 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. "

Deut. 12:29 "When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."
Ex. 20:5 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;"
1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

There are times when I am truly amazed at the mind-set of people in this world (although I guess I shouldn't be.)

I have been applying this same mind-set to scriptures lately, and it is quite eye-opening to me.

My father once told me, "Son, anybody can prove anything from the Bible." This statement was made a while after we had visited a church meeting, and those present tried to actually PULL my father down the aisle at the "altar call." Of course, he resisted and as soon as they turned him loose, he left the building to wait on me and mom in the car.

As I read statements by people who will not accept anything that criticizes their worship of holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and Hallowe'en I am again reminded of how Christians can get into a particular mind-set.

Rather than asking what would God command me to do, they do as Eve did there in the Garden of Eden when she succumbed to the spiritual beguilement of Satan.

Gen. 3: 1 "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons."

The partaking of "the tree of knowledge of good and evil" was a CHOICE she and Adam made AGAINST the commandments of God Himself.

Please notice it is a tree which has GOOD and EVIL fruit, a MIXTURE of good and evil.

What is wrong with the 'good' part of that fruit? IT IS CORRUPTED BY THE EVIL PART!!

Many 'proof-texts' are posted in many Internet on-line Christian forums, and back and forth it goes, trying to 'prove' or 'disprove' the keeping of those holidays. It is an exercise in futility, given the mind-set of todays traditional Christians.

What does God say about Christmas and the other traditional holidays that most of mankind observes?

Mt 15:3 "But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Mt 15:6 "And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition."

Do you dishonor the Almighty God by YOUR traditions?

ANY tradition which opposes God's commandments (and there are more than just the Ten Commandments) CORRUPTS THE WAY of life which He has commanded and designated, and should be immediately REJECTED!

However, what do people do? They might say, as some have told me, "well I know it says that, but it doesn't mean that!"

My comeback is invariably "Well, pray tell me what it DOES mean."

If we can't take God at and by His Word, how CAN we take Him?

Did He just leave it up to us to decide how to worship Him? Or did He take the time to inspire the writers of the original scriptures to TELL US HOW TO WORSHIP HIM?

Can we really take God at His Word? Not according to most traditional Christians of this world. They believe, as did Adam and Eve, they can MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS about what is GOOD and what is EVIL.

When God inspired the New Testament to be written, did He 'change' things and decide that, yes... humans DO have the right and privilege to decide for themselves what is good and what is evil.... and besides when Jesus died there is no longer any sin?

From the beginning God has commanded mankind to MAKE A CHOICE of WHO to obey.

De 30:19 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:"

Remember, in the middle of the Garden of Eden was The Tree of Life, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Those trees represented God's Way of Life versus Satan's way of life.

God's Way of Life leads to Eternal Life.... Satan's way of life leads to eternal death.

Rom. 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Choosing God's Way leads to Life...choosing Satan's way leads to death, pure and simple.

GOD HAS NOT GIVEN MAN THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DECIDING WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG, but has instead given him the responsibility to FOLLOW what God says is truly right or what is truly wrong.... thereby making a choice for God or Satan.

God commanded mankind to OBEY, to KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. He also told us His Commandments were not GRIEVOUS or BURDENSOME.

1 Jo 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."
John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

God loves US, if we keep His commandments. WE love God if we keep His commandments.

Pretty simple, huh?

Then what days ARE we to keep according to God's commandments (and remember I said that the Ten Commandments are not ALL of God's commandments.)

Leviticus 23 gives  all of the days we are commanded to keep.

They are:
1. The weekly 7th day Sabbath. (based upon God's command.)
2. The New Covenant Passover. (based upon God's command.)
3. The Days of Unleavened Bread. (based upon God's command.)
4. The Feast of Pentecost. (based upon God's command.)
5. The Feast of Trumpets. (based upon God's command.)
6. The Day of Atonement. (based upon God's command.)
7. The Feast of Tabernacles and Last Great Day. (based upon God's command.)

THAT'S ALL the days God commanded!

If we observe any other day to Him, it MUST NOT BE one which is corrupted by rituals and observances which are heathenist or pagan, for God HATES those things. They are AN ABOMINATION TO HIM!

NOW, what about the days man tries to worship God?

1. Sun-day. (based upon the pagan worship of the sun as a god and commanded by the Catholic Church.)
2. Easter. (based upon the worship of Isis and Osiris, Babylonian goddess and god , and commanded by the Catholic Church.)
3. Hallowe'en. (based upon the worship of evil spirits or demons.)
4. Christmas. (based upon the worship of the sun, nature, trees, earth, sky, etc., and commanded by the Catholic Church.)

You might want to read the article entitled, "4000 Years of Christmas" by Gary Petty on our website in relation to all this also.

What about you?

Are you going to set mankind's ungodly traditions above God's commandments? (Remember Mat. 15:3,6 quoted near the start of this article.)

What you DO with the information contained on this web site could affect your very salvation! What's it going to be, God or Man?

Oh yes, I know your intentions are good, but are they part of the good corrupted by the EVIL  from  that Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil which grew in the Garden of Eden?

I hope you can begin to UNDERSTAND and KNOW the difference.

Your friend in Christ,

Ken
