How Do Those Of Jewish Faith
Atone For Their Sins?

Question submitted on: Thursday, May 8, 2003 at 14:58:51

Thank you for submitting your question and for allowing us to serve you.

Question: How do people of the Jewish faith now atone for their sins as they no longer do animal sacrifice?

Answer: For a very short answer, they can't and they have NEVER been able to do so through animal sacrifices!

The Sacrificial Law was NEVER instituted to allow mankind to atone for his sins. The Sacrificial Law was ADDED to the ordinances contained in the Law of Moses (NOT the Ten Commandments) as a 'SCHOOL MASTER' to point to A SACRIFICE in the future which WOULD allow Atonement!

You might enjoy reading two articles on our web site "The Seven Times Newsletter" (address at the bottom of the answer) which goes deeply into these things. Those articles are "Works of the Law ... Should We Do Them?" and "The Schoolmaster." You may also find a lot of other interesting articles there.

What did God say about animal sacrifices and atonement?

Heb 10:4 "For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins."

ONLY THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST can allow for Atonement! All the animal sacrifices pointed to that ULTIMATE, MOST PRECIOUS, MOST EXPENSIVE, sacrifice ... The sacrifice of one who's life was worth more than the lives of ALL MANKIND because He was the one who CREATED mankind!

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

The only people in this world who can obtain atonement at this time are only those who have been CALLED to Jesus (by God), been CHOSEN by God (because of their repentance and obedience), and have been GRANTED God's Holy Spirit! The rest of mankind is BLINDED at this time. (Mat. 13:15).

To whet your appetite (not knowing how studied your are in scripture) I will tell you this, there is more than ONE Resurrection. This is not the ONLY day of salvation.

God's plan takes everything into account, and He has the power to do as He has promised.

Mt 19:26 "But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mr 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Mr 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt."

Yes, truly God has ALL power to do as He pleases. We can have assurance in that.

I hope this has answered your question satisfactorily. As I said earlier, if you have other questions about this answer, please send them to me at the address below.

If you care to do so, please visit our Seven Times web site and read the articles I mentioned. They are in the archives.
