Do YOU Know The Lord? Part 4

We also found out that He was not alone, but was a part of the GodHead. We will find this emphasized here in Genesis, but first we need to understand something else about God.

God Is A Family!

Beginning here in Genesis we can get to know something crucially important in our search to KNOW God!

The word translated God here in Genesis 1:1 is the Hebrew word "Elohim" which is a uni-plural noun. It can be used in the singular or plural, but is usually used in the singular denoting a plurality. Yes, just like the word FAMILY. As you read on in Genesis you find there are two great beings mentioned here. In verse 26 and 27 we find they are referred to as "us". Two beings in this God. NO not a "hypostasis" or some kind of weird explanation of God, but showing there is more than one called God, just as we learned at the beginning of the article, in John 1:1.

What Else Can We Learn About God?

No man has seen God at any time!!!

Yes, that was a statement made by Jesus Himself. It is recorded in :

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Jesus also told Philip:

John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Of course, people have SEEN Jesus, so He must have been talking about THE OTHER member of the God Head; the one who became The Father when Jesus was begotten in Mary's womb. This causes some people quite a problem with the Old Testament because they read that God talked with Abraham face to face. That God sat down and ate a meal that Abraham had prepared. (Gen. 18:5-8)

But, you may say, Abraham SAW that God! That is very true! THAT GOD was the God spoken about in John 1:1. That God was the one who became Jesus during a physical birth! That is the same God who wrote the Ten Commandents with His own finger in two tables of stone on Mt. Sinai!

The God who became the Father has never been seen by mankind! Jesus said He had declared Him. He said if a person had seen Jesus they had seen the Father.

How is that possible?

It is possible because Jesus LOOKS LIKE THE FATHER when He is in a glorified form!

What have we learned about God NOW?

1. He lived as The Word God before His birth as Jesus.
2. When He lived as The Word God, He was a part of the IMMORTAL GodHead.
3. He made EVERYTHING that was made.
4. He became a human being and live among His people, who did NOT KNOW Him and did NOT receive Him.
5. As a part of the GodHead, only He and God Almighty were IMMORTAL.
6. God (Elohim) is a FAMILY!
7. No man has seen God AT ANY TIME.
8. Jesus looks like the Father.

That brings up a question that many have asked.
