Do YOU Know The Lord? Part 8

NOW FOR SOME THINGS
 ABOUT HOW GOD FEELS!

Most people now don't even know they are supposed to fast at times. (That means to go without food and water for a period of time). However, MANY of those who DO know they are supposed to fast, don't know God and Jesus and WHY they are supposed to fast!

God says: Isa. 58:4 Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as ye do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. {ye shall…: or, ye fast not as this day}
5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD? {a day…: or, to afflict his soul for a day?}
6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? {the heavy…: Heb. the bundles of the yoke} {oppressed: Heb. broken}
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? {cast…: or, afflicted}
Isa. 58:13 ¶ If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Yes, some of God's deepest desires are to "loose the bands of wickedness", "undo heavy burdens", "let the oppressed go free", and break EVERY YOKE!

One of God's deepest desires is for people to OBSERVE THE SABBATH because He knows there are SO MANY BLESSINGS associated with that keeping!

God states part of the blessings the Sabbath brings in verse 14:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

To "ride upon the high places of the earth!" Have you ever wanted to be rich? Have you ever wanted to be "looked up to?"

You can be all that and more!! How about this prophecy for our future?

Isa. 60:1 ¶ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. {shine…: or, be enlightened; for thy light cometh}
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: (talking about spiritual darkness) but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light (the truth of God that you will be teaching), and kings to the brightness of thy rising (they will know you have been resurrected as a Spirit Being in God's Family!)
4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. {abundance…: or, noise of the sea shall be turned toward thee} {forces: or, wealth}

Yes, God will bless ABUNDANTLY those who are His Children; those who have accepted His calling and chosen His way of life, becoming obedient to Him in everything! God will change or resurrect those people as brilliant Spirit Beings into His Family and they will have INHERITED ETERNAL, IMMORTAL LIFE!!!

Yes, if you will "hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God," you will be able to KNOW Him and Jesus with a depth and love that surpasses ALL understanding. Here are some more of the blessings you will receive by KNOWING God and obeying Him.

Deut. 28:1 ¶ And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. {store: or, dough, or, kneadingtroughs}
6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. {storehouses: or, barns}
9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD (i.e. you will be called the Children of God); and they shall be afraid of thee.
11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. {in goods: or, for good} {body: Heb. belly}
12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

God's DEEPEST DESIRE is to GIVE you all these things! This is a part of REALLY KNOWING the Lord!

However, you should also KNOW THIS.... God will allow curses to come upon you and overtake you IF YOU DO NOT OBEY HIM!! Those curses have been built into the creation and come into effect when a person disobeys God!! Please continue reading the rest of Deut. 28 to find out what some of these CURSES are!

Did you know all the things I have placed before you about the Lord? There is much more!! A lot of it comes through inspiration of God when He gives understanding through His Spirit that is not written down in scripture. Those things I cannot even begin to describe to you!!

God and Jesus make MANY STATEMENTS in scripture which are designed to give you understanding about Him and His Way of Life. Yes, what God offers is a WAY OF LIFE that leads to really KNOWING HIM AND THE POWER OF HIS SALVATION!!

I will mention just a few. I may have already mentioned some of them in the article but it won't hurt to state them again!

Jesus wants you to keep His Commandments!

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Jesus wants you to be His Friend!

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Jesus wants you to be prosperous and in good health. John, knowing the Mind of Christ prayed this way:

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. {wish: or, pray}

Those who reject the scriptures or REBEL against the scriptures DON'T KNOW GOD!

1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

God loves us with an UNFATHOMABLE love.

1 John 4:7 ¶ Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. {is born: Gr. has been born}
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

And of course, that oft quoted scripture:

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I purposely added two more scriptures to underscore even more knowledge of how God thinks!

I might also mention that the word 'believing' means much more than just a thought in the mind that God and Jesus are real, or just a thought that Jesus died as payment for sin!

Believing is an ACTIVE word! It produces fruit, a way of life that is lived in obedience to the commandments of God!!! It is a word which really will produce FRUIT of the Spirit when a person who TRULY BELIEVES is resurrected at the coming of Christ to set up His Kingdom ON THIS EARTH!!

Truly knowing God is a matter that can be summed up in the next verses:

1 John 2:1 ¶ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 ¶ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

So here at the end of this article (which really is only a break in the story of the way to know God) I ask you again...

Do YOU (really) KNOW the Lord?
