Do You Believe God is a Trinity? WHY?

Do you believe God is a Trinity? If so, why? If you believe this, do you think God is One, or three? How do you explain it? Or do you use the universal phrase, "Well, its a great mystery! We aren't supposed to be able to explain it." Or something such as that.

If you believe in the 'trinity', how do you explain that the scriptures nowhere talk about this? How do you explain that even in scriptures where the Holy Spirit is referred to as 'he', that the original wording is in the neuter gender while any reference to God or Jesus is in the masculine gender?

Many, in fact most, people when trying to prove the idea of a trinity use words like "it seems to show," and "seems to indicate," or "the scriptures are not clear on this but."

How about a statement like this? "Although the word "trinity" is not found in the bible, the doctrine of the Trinity is plainly taught in Scripture, as evidenced by the passages listed below:" Then the writer starts in the old testament with this statement:

"(1) Strongly implied - Gen. 1:1-3; 12:7 (cf. Col 1:15-17; Job 33:4); Isa 48:12_16."
Then the next one he says:
"(2) Elohim (plural) - Gen. 1:26; 11:7: The Trinity is implied in the word.
Then the next statement:
"(3) Other indications found in - Gen. 48:15-16; Exod 31:3; Num 11:25; Judg 3:10; Isa 6:8; 11:2; 42:1; 61:1.

This gentleman then goes on into the New Testament and continues his "implications".

The article is quite long (two pages of implications) and we don't have the room to quote all of his text but I wanted to show enough of it to start this article and show everyone where the fallacy is in the belief. We here at Seven Times try to be simple and to the point. Some articles aren't very pointed because of the twisted beliefs that we must refute from time to time. However, we will strive to keep everything pointed at the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ.

You will note above that the writer said the the trinity was PLAINLY TAUGHT IN scripture and then used scriptures that "strongly implied." Let's use some of the scriptures he quoted and see what the scriptures REALLY say.

Gen. 1:1-3, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Verse 2, "And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."

Here we see that "in the beginning" of physical things, God created the heaven(s) and the earth. The word for God here in the original Hebrew is indeed "Elohim" which is a uni-plural noun. It can be used in the singular or in the plural. Here in this verse it is not known how it is used so we must look to the context to find out. In verse 26 of this same chapter we find this God saying, "Let US make man in OUR image." It is definite that this same Hebrew word is being used in the plural and it is definite that they are creating all the things that chapter one is talking about.

Where is the implication that there are three doing this? When one starts with an assumption and then tries to prove it from the Bible, that person starts upon shaky ground in that whoever does this, builds upon something that the scriptures are not saying.

If one starts with the assumption that there are THREE beings in the Godhead, then the plurality of the word automatically "implies" this belief to the person doing the assuming. Of course, plurality does not limit any number, so we could then assume that there are 10 or 12 or 50 or ..... well you see what I mean. We must scour the scriptures to find out what it really means, and God does show us many times what He means here. But let's go on.

In verse 2 the Spirit of God "moved" upon the face of the waters. This word "spirit" in the Hebrew is "Ruwach" which means - air, breath, mind, spirit, blast, vain, anger, cool, courage, depending upon the context in which we find it. Notice that it DOES NOT MEAN a spirit being! If you like you can check this out in any concordance of the Bible.

In verse 1 we see that God (plural) created the heaven(s) and the earth. However, in verse two we see that (if we take it just as it is written) He must have created it in waste, chaos and emptiness. That is what the words "without form and void" mean. They are "tohuw" and "bohuw" and mean - empty, waste, nothingness, empty place, vanity.

Since we know God isn't vain, then that word isn't in context, is it? That leaves the others. Now, does God create like that? Other scriptures show that anything He does is perfect and a thing of beauty.

Isa 45:18 "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I [am] the LORD; and [there is] none else."

Whoops! What happened here? Is this a contradiction in the scriptures? No, of course not. When God originally created the earth He created it perfect as only He could do.

Verse 1 is referring to the extremely distant past. There is no way of knowing how long the earth has been in existence. However, there is no reason to NOT believe that it has existed for millions of years. God created the earth and placed a bright shining Archangel on it to dress it and keep it until God would create mankind (and that creation of mankind was about 6 thousand years ago). Science has proven the earth is millions of years old and "assumes" that man must be that old also, hence the caveman, evolutionary theory of survival of the fittest and man fighting with dinosaurs, etc. Seven Times will sooner or later present what we believe on this scenario, but for now we had better stick to the story here.

This Spirit that "moved" on the face of the waters, surely that must have been the Holy Spirit, a God Being? No. As I showed, it was God considering the devastation of the earth that He had created in physical perfection before this time, getting it ready to be inhabited by mankind at a later date. If we realize that the Spirit here is the Power and Mind of God, we can see that He was thinking, considering, brooding about the devastation He was viewing. How it came to be devastated will be covered in another article soon.
Ok, we know there are at least TWO God Beings here in the beginning. How can we know who they were?
We will look at John 1 and verse 1:

"In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was WITH God, and The Word WAS God."
"The same was IN THE BEGINNING WITH GOD."
"All things were made by Him (The Word); and without Him was not anything made that was made."

We see from the following scriptures that The Word was the same one who became Jesus. We also see that there are only TWO mentioned, not THREE!

If we couple this knowledge with the meanings we learned earlier we can see that Gen. 1 could be rendered, "In the beginning of physical creation, The Word and God created the heavens and the earth."

This brings up the question, "Then how is God One?" The Scriptures are replete with statements that God is One, that there is only ONE God. We must go back to the same verse of Gen. 1 and the plurality of that word "Elohim."

That word is a UNI-PLURAL noun just like FAMILY is a uni-plural noun! It is ONE FAMILY but there are several in that family. For instance my family name is Browder. I am a Browder, my wife is a Browder, and each of my children are Browders. A number of people, in a family of people. However, the plurality of the word family doesn't demand that there is more than two, does it? There are families that only have husband and wife. Two people in the family and yet only ONE family.

God defines this oneness in Genesis 2 where Adam states this:

23 "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. {Woman: Heb. Isha} {Man: Heb. Ish}
24 "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

It is the same with God. There are right now only TWO in the GodHead with the same kind of oneness that a man and wife are supposed to have. However, God is creating a family of sons and daughters who will be IN His family (Kingdom) at their resurrection.
Look at these scriptures:

Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."
Romans 8:16, "The Spirit itself (notice the neuter gender..editor) beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God:"
Verse 17, "And if children, then HEIRS: heirs of God, and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST;
if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also GLORIFIED together."

Wow! Did you get that? If we have received God's Holy Spirit IN us, we are His children and heirs of the SAME THINGS that Christ inherited!!!
Another verse:

Verse 23, "And not only they (the creation) but ourselves also, which have the FIRSTFRUITS OF THE SPIRIT, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption (sonship, as I showed above), to wit, the REDEMPTION of our body."

Hmmm, the first fruits of the Spirit. Does that mean that the Holy Spirit splits and we only get part of "him?" Of course not. Then what happens?

2 Co 5:5 "Now he that hath wrought us for this very same thing [is] God, who also hath given to us the EARNEST of the Spirit.

That "earnest" (or down-payment) is enough of God's Spirit to empower us to do the job He has given us to do on this earth, of overcoming the pulls of our flesh and overcoming the temptations of Satan. We will receive that full installment at the resurrection when we receive our spirit bodies which can never die!

In John 14 where it is talking about the Comforter, all those hims, and hes, are neuter in gender in the Greek language. In John 16 verse 7 shows that Jesus had to depart before He could send the Holy Spirit.

All through scriptures the Holy Spirit is referred to as Power, Mind, Work, Comfort. We receive the, .....but let God tell it:

2Ti 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

That is the "spirit" that we receive. The spirit of power, of love, and of a SOUND MIND. yes.....that sound mind (Spirit) of God blending with our minds and making us a child of His.

The fact and the REAL truth is that God is NOT a trinity.

That is a lie that has been perpetuated by Satan the Devil to hide the real truth about the Godhead. As we continue this article it is hoped that you will see and understand how all this belief came about and what the real truth is about the Godhead.

The Archangel Lucifer (it means shining star of the dawn or light-bringer) was given a charge over this earth to prepare it for our habitation. He was given a throne on this earth and was to rule over it until God's children were born and they would then be given the throne. Lucifer after some time began to resent this arrangement and coerced his angels (it is believed he was over a third of the angels) into going with him and trying to FORCE God to let Him sit in a throne beside Him and The Word. We can see this scenario in Isaiah 14.

13 "For thou hast said in thy heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:"
14 "I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High."

We see here that Lucifer wanted to BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH. He wanted to be OVER ALL THE STARS (angels) of God, AND over the congregation (family of God). We also see here that he DID HAVE A THRONE!

There have been many teachings in the past that try to make these scriptures say that Lucifer wanted to KNOCK GOD OFF HIS THRONE! However, that isn't what they say, is it? Lucifer wanted to be LIKE the Most High. He wanted to form a "trinity" with Almighty God, The Word God, and himself... creating, if you will, a "triangle" or "pyramid' God Head. That would have been one that closed off the possibility (as I see it) of anyone else being in the God Head.

A closed "trinity" or "pyramid" government from the top (The Almighty, The Word, and Lucifer) down. Anyone else who was resurrected would then have been lower than the God Head and similar to the angels in status.

However, God's plan has always been to create, to sire, a family to share His Kingdom as a PART OF HIM (spiritually thinking as He thinks), to be at one with Him and The Word.

Look at John 17:

Joh 17:11 "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thy own name those whom thou hast given to me, that they may be one, as we [are]." (and they are one in a similar manner to the way Adam and Eve are one...editor)
Joh 17:21 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me."

Yes God wants humans to be in His Family, to be "one" family with Him and Jesus. And that is what Satan doesn't want! Lucifer didn't want it and tried to force God to seat him on the throne instead of those God wanted to seat there.

Because of his rebellion, Lucifer was renamed by God to reflect what he had become....The Adversary (Satan).

Satan has been busy promoting his agenda for thousands of years on the earth. He is the God of this earth right now.

2Co 4:4 "In whom THE GOD OF THIS WORLD hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine to them."

However, Jesus defeated him in a battle of the mind (when Jesus went into the wilderness after His anointing) and deposed Satan as the god of this world. Jesus will soon return to TAKE His throne and set up an everlasting Kingdom.

That return is imminent! This world can't go on much longer as it is! The economies of the world are on the brink of collapse. Armies all over the world have nuclear missiles trained on America, Britian and the english speaking peoples all over this world! The y2k computer problem could set off a series of events that could bring about our down fall as a free people!

Is the y2k problem "the end of the world?" No. But it certainly could precede it.

Is y2k the beginning of "Armageddon?" No. But it could certainly precede it!

Should we all be ready? YES.

Let's quit betting on things that aren't spelled out in the scriptures. Let's KEEP God's commandments, all of them. Then if Christ comes back and asks us why, we can tell Him we wanted to do whatever it took to be CLOSE TO HIM, to have HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS in us! We can tell Him we wanted to be as sure as possible that we were on His side and that we didn't want to do anything that might be considered SIN and be cut off from Him!

If you want to pursue the study about keeping the commandments, write to us for the list of available articles or booklets on the subject.

Yes Lucifer wanted to take our throne in the Family of God and close us out, but God and Jesus didn't allow it. Lucifer wanted to be a "TRINITY" with God and Jesus, but They didn't allow it!

For human beings who OBEY God, there is an awesome potential to BECOME a REAL Son of God (notice the capital S and G). We who are in the first resurrection have an awesome appointment!

Will you be there? Or do you just give God "lip service"? Stay tuned to The Seven Times Newsletter and learn what is required of you to "be there".
