Why I Don't Vote!

Sept. 2008 --- The process to elect the next president of The United States is in full swing, and many people are wrapped up in this "party" process.

If you watched any of the nominating conventions, you know that "party" was the pertinent phrase! The party was going strong on both, but the Republican "party" really came on strong when Senator John McCain chose a relatively unknown woman, the governor of Alaska, to be his running mate.
That choice seemed to invigorate the Republican party as no one has done in a very long time!
However, the mud slinging began to seethe underneath the seemingly cordial remarks made by some of the people on the Democrat side.
in her acceptance speech, Governor Sarah Palin,  used the retorical question, "What is the difference in a hockey mom and a pit bull?" Her reply, "Lipstick!"
The attending crowd went wild at this, and that phrase was noised around like an oral banner for change in Washington, D.C.
The "dirt crews" immediately went to the internet making millions of searches for phrases such as, 'Sarah Palin, nude', 'Sarah Palin, bikini', and 'Sarah Palin, porn'.

Yes those searches were presumably by those of the Democratic campaign to find something to besmirch, vilify, and destroy this woman who dared accept a chance to be the first woman vice president of the United States!
In all fairness, I must also stress that there are many of those "out there" who just want to lust after this lovely woman. The internet is famous for those kinds of web sites which enjoy showing nothing but filth to those who are addicted to pornography.

Sarah Palin, as she said, is a hockey mom for her kids, loves her family, has a son in the military and fights corruption as the Governor of Alaska. She also served as mayor of her home town and did a very good job of it. She stopped the financing of the "bridge to nowhere" which had been begun as a pork barrel project by some of the other politicians.

In a speech later, Senator Obama made the remark something to the effect that if one puts lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig!

The uproar was instantaneous on both sides. On the Democratic side, those listening to Senator Obama roared in approval. Those on the Republican side roared in disapproval.
Senator Obama claimed he was not referring to Governor Palin in that remark  but was talking about all the same old policies in Washington which needed to be changed.

As I have said for awhile now, this election is going to be very interesting no matter who wins in November!

Why am I saying all this since I don't participate in the politics of this or any other nation? Because others have asked me why I don't vote!
And of course, the answer is, I am a member of the Body of Christ. I hesitate to use the word Christian because it has been tied to so many who certainly are NOT followers of Jesus the Christ!
As I have also stated in other articles, the word "Christian" means "follower of Christ."
I have to ask myself, and so should others who claim to be Christian, what WOULD Jesus DO?

What Would Jesus Do?    WWJD?

If we are followers of Christ is that not what we should all be asking? However, when I ask that I find some intriguing answers.
Did Jesus participate in the politics of the country where He lived?
Nowhere in scripture did Jesus participate in the politics of that country. He DID chastize the Pharisees (the ruling religious party) for their religious beliefs.
He DID constantly teach his disciples to obey those who had authority over them.

Rom. 13:1 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

Paul further explained:

6 "For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."

Should we then obey those who want us to sin against God? Should we obey those in authority who order us to violate the laws of God?

Acts 5:29 "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."

If the laws of men are opposed to the laws of God, we ought to obey God rather than men. Of course, we will then suffer the penalties of the laws of men we have to disobey! We are to be subject to them.
Does all this mean we should participate in the governmental process to try to change those laws which are against God and Christ? Did Jesus do that when He lived on the earth?
Let me ask it this way. Is there ANY human being who is fit to rule this world? Is there anyone you know who can extract America out of the total mess this country is in?

The financial structure of this country and this government is in almost total collapse! Morality has become something that is discarded by most of the people of America (and of course, the world). Disease is running rampant with heart failure, HIV, cancer, emphysema, dimentia, alzheimers, insanity, and birth defects. There are also diseases reappearing which the scientific community thought had been eradicated, cholera, diptheria, and others.

Who can put a stop to wars? Global warming, if it is true? Who can build peace on this earth? Anyone you know?

What if we elected to office the one human being in all of America that was TRULY righteous?
He would STILL be a human being subject to mistakes, and to sins even though he struggled against them mightily. He would still have to go to God for forgiveness.

God tells us to NOT love the world! (These human societies.)

1 John 2:15 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. "

Do you enjoy politics? Are you deeply into trying to create a better world for human kind by electing the right officials to rule over people?
Do you believe that if all the "good" people in the world came together and voted for a "righteous" person, that they could overcome all the problems which SIN has brought upon this society?

Are there any "good" people? I mean REALLY good people? What did Jesus say about that?

Luke 18:18 "And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God."

YES! NONE IS GOOD, SAVE ONE! Speaking of God the Father!

Are there ANY who are sinless?

Ro 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

If there are no good people, how will a 'good' person be found to be elected to fulfill everyone's wishes?

What does voting produce, anyway?

During the time of Samuel, the people came to him demanding a king to rule over them like all the other nations around them. They wanted to SERVE a human king! Samuel went crying to God claiming that the people had rejected him but God told him this:

1 Sam 8:7 "And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them."

Yes they wanted to "vote" for a human king to rule over them! As the story goes, God allowed it but gave Samuel a message for the people which you can read in the rest of that chapter. It isn't pleasant or good.
If you are one who takes part in "voting" for a king, or president, to rule over you, you especially need to read the rest of that chapter!!!

Paul tells us this in the book of Romans:

Rom. 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things."

Yes, God has placed enough real proof into His creation that can be "clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made." And yet they glorified Him not as God and did all the other things that these scriptures talk about!

However there is one thing people do that brings the sins of those elected officials down upon their own heads.

Verse32 "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

And continuing in chapter 2:

1 "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God"

Those who vote are judging the character of the people they vote for, and if they put them into office, they then are condemned by God as "but have pleasure in them that do them (i.e. the sins that those elected officials do whether by mistake or on purpose!"
Did you realize that if you help put someone into office, that their sins become YOUR SINS, too? No, I guess you didn't!

We all know the old axiom or question, "How can you tell when a politician is lying? ... When his lips are moving!"

Now I realize that there are some (a very few) principled people in office in Washington, D.C. However, they are in the extreme minority, and those others who are unprincipled will do everything in their power to keep those in the extreme minority where their work will not mean much.
Anyone who understands anything about politics realizes that those who have been elected (at least the majority) are there to line THEIR pockets and try to last long enough to have that golden retirement where they receive outrageous amounts of money as "former representatives", etc.
Every one should realize that they are there to MASTER, not to SERVE!  (Although they were elected to "serve"!)

Then what should a true Christian do?

When a person receives God's Holy Spirit, they then become a child of God. They then become citizens of another country! Their allegiance should then be to their new country!

There are those who cry, "If you don't vote, you shouldn't complain!" As if not voting automatically takes all the protection away from them who are still living in this country!
We are like ambassadors of another country when we are begotten by God's Holy Spirit!
Even ambassadors are protected by the countries where they are! They seem to almost have "dual citizenship" because they can enjoy being protected by the laws of their "host" country as well as their own.

True Christians are like those talked about in the book of Hebrews.

Heb. 11:8 "By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God."

Yes, once we become a child of God, we become citizens of another country, the Kingdom of God. It is not here yet, so we are like Ambassadors bringing a message from our King.

Phil 3:20 "For our conversation (our conduct, our citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:"

2 Cor. 5:20
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God."

Yes, we who belong to Christ are bringing a message, to earth,  from our new country and we are "looking for a city" which will house the Government of God on this earth and will then have truly righteous judgment from The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus the Christ!! He will RULE from Jerusalem and make all Kingdoms and nations of this earth a part of HIS Kingdom.

Rev. 11:15 "And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever."

THAT IS WHY I DON'T VOTE!

I am an ambassador for Christ and helping to bring His message, AND HIS WARNING, to this earth! I expect this country to protect me and give me the same privileges that other ambassadors from other countries receive.

I'm waiting for my King and my God to set up His Kingdom on this earth! THEN I will participate in the activities of that government because I know that I will NOT be a partaker of that KIng's sins, because I know THAT KING will NOT SIN, and I will receive the rewards He brings for me!!

He tells us to "COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE, LEST YE BE PARTAKERS OF HER SINS and that ye receive not of her plagues!!" (Rev. 18:4)

Do you BELIEVE this? YOU HAD BETTER!!!!
