Your Good Health!

3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

God's Holy Word says many things about our well-being. God tells us that He created us "unto good works" (Eph. 2:10) and Paul is explicit in the scripture above where he wishes us to be in health and for our lives to prosper.

In order for our lives to prosper, we must be in GOOD health and God hasn't left us in the dark when it comes to the knowledge of how to do that.

It has been said that "we are what we eat!" That is the truth, and God is explicit in telling us what we must eat and what we MUST avoid for good health.

Too many people believe that we can now eat ANYTHING and that "God has 'cleansed' everything for people to eat. It doesn't make sense, however, when one realizes that not everything is good for us. Why would the Great God who created all things, allow us to eat something which contained POISON? The argument here that God has cleansed 'everything' so that we can eat it is just so much garbage! Even the food experts and scientists tell us that there are things which will HARM us if we eat them.

Do they know what they are talking about? Or don't they realize that 'anything' we want to eat has been 'cleansed' by God? When one begins to think about it logically, it becomes clear that God hasn't made everything for our consumption.

In fact, God makes specific statements about what we should and should NOT eat!

In the Book of Leviticus, God goes into BOTH the physical and spiritual requirements for our health.

Lev. 11:2 "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth."

God then becomes very explicit about what we CAN and what we CANNOT eat. That is, IF we want to stay healthy and live a good long life!

Acts 10:9 ¶ On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

Was Peter Impertinent?

Peter was pretty impertinent, was he not? He REFUSED to eat something God had told him to eat!

Well, not really. You see, Peter KNEW God would NOT command Him to eat something which God had already declared as unclean!! Peter did not know what God was driving at but he knew it didn't have anything to do with eating anything unclean.

God let down the sheet twice more, telling Peter to take and eat. Each time Peter refused, and yet God didn't condemn him for refusing!!

Then what WAS God trying to show Peter?

We can learn that as we read down through the rest of the chapter.

However, I will only show you a few scriptures to prove that God wasn't telling Peter it was alright to eat unclean things!

Verse 17 "Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,
18 "And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19"While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.
20 "Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.

Please read ALL the scriptures between verse 20 and the next verse I am quoting to really begin to understand what this story is all about.

verse 28 "And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation (according to Jewish law); but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean."

Too many people look to their own understanding about too many of God's Holy Scriptures, when He commands them to not do that.

Prov. 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Truly, God is concerned with our physical health! He knows how He created the human body, and He knows how we should take care of it.

The problem is that people think they know more than God, or they try to fit the Bible to their way of living rather than trying to fit their way of living to the Bible!

What about you? Have YOU believed this error that some man taught you?

What will you now do about it? God says to REPENT!! That means to CHANGE how you live your life, and begin to bring it into God's Way of Life as outlined in His Holy Word!

We here at SevenTimes are going to enhance our Health Area and begin to try to help those who want to be helped. We will try to give you wisdom about your health and to run suggestions and articles that could help give you that GLOW of health that Paul desired for you!

The FIRST SUGGESTION is to READ Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14 to learn what to eat and WHAT NOT TO EAT.

And of course, with all your getting, GET UNDERSTANDING!!

If there is anything we can do for you to help in your quest for good health, please just write!
